"They're all fake." There are 3 things that at this point in my 24 years of life I have gained a good amount of knowledge about: Sports, religion, and haters. When it comes to sports, you can just see the blogs below or my rants on twitter. I care about sports way too much....WAY too much, but somehow for me that's not a problem, it's a solution to other problems [another blog, another day]. As far as religion goes, I grew up in the church, have four people in my family who are pastors [including my pops], and after a lot of personal soul searching I've come to know Christ for myself. I'm not out here holding revivals, or baptizing da' homies at the local Y', but I'm serious about my faith. Now to the real topic of the hour, haters. We all know them, see them, hear them, entertain their horrible views on everything this life has to offer, etc. Some of y'all reading this right now have already thought of about 3-5 things in this blog to hate on [that makes you a hater, don't deny it, it makes you look worse, accept it]. My main gripe with haters is not what they say, how often they hate, or even how nonsensical it usually is. It's how INCONSISTENT they are. That stuff literally drives me crazy. For example, when a hater starts hating on religion [in this case Christians], one of the first things they will say is, "man G, them Christians are all fake, if they were real, I'd be down." Then literally 5-seconds later, when they are confronted by a Christian who isn't fake, they say, "so you think you're better than me now cause you believe in Jesus? Stop acting like you ain't a sinner too, be more down to earth!" My thing is, those two comments cannot co-exist. Which has led me to the conclusion that the problem does not lie in an actual belief in what the hater is saying. The problem is, a real, thoroughbred hater cannot be reasoned with, and have an "argument" for everything. Another thing I hate is how every hater has what I like to call some "last-ditch feces" to throw your way when they don't have anything else to say. It will sound something like, "Well, I would believe in God if He appeared to me right now and said wassup". Trust me, I'm not trying to denigrate real questions from people who are really seeking to understand something, rather than trying to make you feel lame. But, from here on out, if you're a hater, and you don't have anything real to say and just wanna throw "last-ditch feces" at me just to make you feel better about you, save it. I'm not interested in it, I want no part of it. The reality is, there r a lot of people out here that know they shouldn't be doing 90% of the stuff they're doing, and acting like God doesn't exist is what helps them sleep at night.
By now you're probably asking what does any of this have to do with sports. There is no person/athlete that symbolizes the colliding of these three worlds [sports, religion, hate] than Tim Tebow. I remember back in the day a lot of the hate that was thrown at his feet had to do with his throwing motion, and the overall ugliness of his game as a QB. If I'm being honest out here, I have to say that initially I could care less for Tebow and his antics while at Florida. Just seemed like another great-white hope/hype story that would have never been possible if the dude was black. In my opinion at the time, if Tebow was the exact same guy but black, he'd go un-drafted, or he'd be a fullback/tight-end/h-back, whatever that bull is. When he got drafted in the first round I laughed out loud hysterically. Then his post draft interview happened, right there in his house, he uttered these words: "they're gonna get my heart and my soul, and everything that comes with me." I had heard about his Christian beliefs in the past: the memory verses on the eye-black [which got mysteriously banned], the whole pro-life Super-bowl commercial with his mom, and him being a virgin, etc. I had also heard about athletes in the past who were gonna make it their mission to use their platform to save souls for the kingdom [for example D Howard....but it only took a couple hip shakes from Royce to switch up the agenda]. So I honestly wasn't sure if he would live up to bringing "everything" that comes with him.
What I can definitely say now is that Tebow wasn't joking. He brought his faith, character, and lifestyle with him and he doesn't switch it up for anybody. ANYBODY. To me, I feel like if you're real, then how can you knock a dude for trying to be just who he says/claims to be? Is Tim Tebow perfect? Nobody is so no, and he doesn't profess to be. Is Tebow the only Christian athlete who has ever been hated on? No, but the hate has never been more inconsistent than it is with him. If you want to criticize his game, by all means go ahead. I personally still don't think he will ever be an elite QB [whatever that means], but people need to stop acting like Q's like Brady/Brees/Manning/Vick/Roethlisberger grow on trees. The dude is good enough to play on Sunday's and we've seen/tolerated a lot worse out there. Now that dude is winning, the attacks have gotten more personal. Former Broncos QB Jake Plummer [bust] gave the classic "I'm not hating on your beliefs" preface to a rant in which he hated on Tebow's beliefs. Really Jake? How 'bout you tell us why you really mad?
Tebow is an inconsistent hater's worst nightmare. You can try to hide your hate behind critiques of his game, or what you think his on-field ceiling will be, but at the end of the day we know what it's really about. A hater usually hates on something that indicts their own personal character. Tebow is that dude that everybody knows in the back of their head they should be like, but make 100 excuses as to why they never could. The sad thing is, in the event that Tebow makes some sort of mistake in the future, there will be 1,000,000 people who feel justified in their belief that "they're all fake." Last ditch feces.

This is It: Put up or shut up.
We have reached the moment that we have all been waiting for. 11 hours (time of publishing) from the beginning of one of the most important Free Agent periods in NBA History. Soon and very soon, teams will not be able to feed their fan bases anymore bologna. It's either you get it done, or your franchise is done. Toast. Finito. Ballgame. As many of you already know I am a New York Knicks fan. Since 2008 I have been sifting through blogs, rumor mill websites, magazine publications, and press conference innuendos to try and get some sense or idea of what I could expect from my team on this date. We've gone through the absolute liquidation of anyone on the roster who makes more than a dollar going into next season (except for Eddy Curry...thanks Zeke). We are currently going through 3 years (I include this year cause Jordan Hill is a joke who is no longer on the team) of no first round talent in the draft, after giving away our next two picks to the Rockets to clear more cap room. Most people have compared this free agency period to a game of poker. With the moves that the Knicks have made through the draft (none), free agency (slim to none) and trades (fire sale) we have pushed all our chips to the center of the table. D' Antoni said, "We have put all our efforts and focus into this summer, and we aren't bluffing." Now I have no problem going all in when I play poker, but there is a difference between a poker player of my skill (amazing) going all in and the Knicks going all in. The difference is, I know whats in my hand before I shove. What I have been trying to figure out for two years is, what is in the Knicks' hand?
Lets look around the table. The Heat have D Wade already in their grasp. Sure he could leave, but lets face it, he isn't. They pretty much re-named Dade County "Wade County." They are also one deal away from equalizing the one advantage the Knicks had going into this: The ability to offer multiple max deals. We're talking not just two but 3. He could add any combination of 2 from a list of Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Lebron, Dirk Nowitzki, and Carlos Boozer. You can even go after guys like Ray Allen and Pierce who may not cost the full max. The point is going into this game they have a card that other teams can't boast: A Championship winning Dwayne Wade who is willing to share the spotlight and will most likely go on recruiting trips. Even if they do strike out, conventional knowledge suggests that they keep Wade and even if not, guys will go down there to live, party and (o yea) play in Miami/South Beach.
The Bulls probably have the best young core for these stars to work with. In the suddenly point guard driven league (to an extent) you have one of the best up and coming ones in Derrick Rose. Joakim Noah is that scrappy young horse that will do the dirty work (pause). Taj Gibson shows promise, and if they trade Deng they can open up even more room for players to come and help fill out the roster. Once again, if they strike out, they still have that young core to continue to build around through the draft and with other lesser-tier free agents. They are in on this thing, but they wont lose it all if their cards get trumped.
The Nets are one of the more interesting players at the table. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that the 12 wins was an aberration with Brook Lopez and Devin Harris being hurt a lot of the year. Those two boys can flat out play. The Derrick Favors pick is solid too, and I think he will develop more going forward, as will Terrence Williams. The looming Brooklyn project (intriguing), the Jay-Z factor (illuminati), and this Prokhorov owner guy (think Mark Cuban International) gives them some street cred and appeal. If they can plug in a max guy or two with that existing core, watch out. The "supposed 2 years at the most" Newark Project throws a slight wrench in the plans. But if guys are thinking big picture, this might be a serious consideration. Once again if they strike out, they still have a decent core to build around with some randoms that can fill out their rotation. They wont contend for a title like they've been saying, but down the road when they get Brooklyn jumping, they can make real moves.
There are a couple teams that are looking to go the sign-and-trade route. This sounds a lot more complicated and sketchy at first, but the team that is most likely to do this is probably Dallas. They like Miami are the odds on favorite to keep their guy. Once they re-sign Dirk, he can help them recruit a side kick, or a guy that makes him the best side kick in the league. They have some attractive pieces to move; Beaubois (spelling), Dampier (Expiring contract), Caron Butler (solid), and Shawn "I used to be the Matrix" Marion (could be good). If say LeBron wants to leave in good faith and not hang the Cavs out to dry, this would be the most likely suitor. Think occasional home games in Cowboys stadium with 70,000+ screaming your name (pause). I'm not saying its likely cause the West road to the Finals is definitely a lot more dicey, but it still has to be an consideration not just for LeBronMelo anybody?).
In conclusion we'll deal with my Knicks. I have come to the conclusion that we truly are all-or-nothing in this high stakes poker game. I am excited about the prospects/opportunity of getting two franchise changing players in our uniform. But as I look around the table I see contingency plans...we supposedly have one but it is over paying and signing Joe Johnson and Amare Stoudemire. In other words the Phoenix Suns of the East without Steve Nash. Why Amare would even do that is a whole 'nother issue. So where we are now, it really seems like we really don't have a contingency plan. Lets look at our hand right now: Galinari (great shooter, promising future, but useless on a bad team), Wilson (great all-around player, but again if we're bad it won't matter), Toney Douglas (the jury is still out but could be a great back-up in the league...he's our starter), Bill Walker (an after thought in a Nate Robinson for Eddie House trade...but could be the best player out of that deal, is that saying much though?), Edward Curry (.....), and an unsigned David Lee (he's not worth max money and will prolly ask for more from the Knicks than he's worth while we wait on some max guys, then he'll end up elsewhere, its sad, hope we keep him somehow). That is it, that is what we are working with. So we are selling that and some combination of MSG (world's most overrated i mean famous arena), The Empire State Building (didn't know Knicks players got part ownership of that), Some of the greatest eateries, clubs, parties in the world (which he already attends), Mike D'Antoni's system (Great if you don't care about defense, and Celebrity requests (i'm still sort of in the dark on their role in all this). So on the eve of this monumental day, that is what we have to work with. I have come to the sad conclusion that we have pushed all our chips to the middle of the table in order to receive what everyone else at the table seems to already have: some meaningful cards. Lets call this the reverse poker strategy. For the sake of mine and all Knick fans sanity, and for the sake of the jobs of all the front office people involved; I hope they know something that I don't.
or else its back to the good ol' days....and i aint talking the 90s:

Walking the Tightrope
This video will serve as the backdrop for the blog which will follow, enjoy.
The guys name is Dean Potter... and to sum up what I think about what he just did i'll just state my humble opinion: HE'S CRAZY. When asked about why he does what is called "soloing" he had this to say: Soloing for me is about being completely in the moment, not worrying about the past or future, but just being right here, right now. That’s why I do it.
I am just going to try and unpack what we just saw in this video. Dean Potter is not your average person. As you saw, he gave two attempts at walking the rope with "protective equipment" on and he fell off the rope both times. I mean your trying to walk across a 100 foot rope, which is 7,800 feet in the air so I don't mind you having something to ensure your safety. Then this man does the unthinkable. After failing to walk across the entire rope with his protective mechanism, he decides that THIS is the time to shed himself of his self-made protection and try to walk across this rope without it. At this point you are probably thanking me for stating the obvious in your mind. Bear with me as I start to unpack this.
Our lives are like tightropes. We walk this thin-line from the time we are born between what feels "good" and what we know is right. Between what we want, and what God is telling us we need. Most of us are currently standing at the beginning of that rope. There are people of many different ages standing here. The side we are standing on consists of several things. It could be what we have been taught to be true our entire lives. It could also be our sins and personal habits. It could also be our legalistic mindset which could include our worship preferences, holier than thou attitude, or our "don't judge me" my life doesn't need to show my Christ attitude. We all are at the beginning of this rope for different reasons. Before we move forward, I want you to be thinking about what your current condition is and why.
Now we get to the point in our lives where we are sick of the place we are at. We hear a good sermon, get an emotional high during praise & worship etc and we decide a change needs to be made. Christ gives us simple instructions: "Leave your condition behind, keep your eyes on Me and keep walking towards me, I am at the end of the rope." This sounds cool and all and we definitely want to change....but these instructions are CRAZY!!! You want me to walk across this rope??? I've been in control of my life this whole time and your trying to tell me that I haven't even really started living yet? How could I still be stuck at the beginning after all these years? All you get in response to these questions are the same instructions. But what about all I have been through??? All the pain and suffering that i felt when I lost my father. The pain of my divorce. The guilt of my sins, and the shame it has caused me. I am supposed to leave that behind??? At this point we make the all too familiar choice. We decide to start walking across the rope, but we strap ourselves with the safety harness of our current condition so that just in case we fall we have our old ways to fall back on. Yea God, a compromise, that'll work right??? I'm still walking towards you, but You really expected me to do that with no safety mechanism?
We embark on our journey, getting a little farther each time but always finding a way to fall. We get to the point where we travel all the way back to the beginning and are on the brink of giving up. We pray and pray to Christ and He responds with these simple instructions: "Let go of the safety harness." But God that is who I am, I can't leave all these things behind...I won't be able to make it. Many times in the church we get caught up in the box that we have placed God in so much that we feel like He is only capable of doing things one way. If God were to confront us on that "box" that we have created, our whole entire world would shatter. God is telling us to shed ourselves totally of what has kept us at the beginning of our walk with Him for all these years. So we finally get on the rope, no safety harness, past behind us, not fully understanding why He said what He said. But our eyes are on Him, He's at the end of the rope, and with each step He begins to reveal to us a little more about Himself. Things we only could have learned by taking that first step of faith on the rope with him. We learn that He is our shelter in the time of storm because even the winds and the waves obey Him. He is the Alpha and the Omega, He was with us as we were stuck in our beginnings and He will be with us when we make it to His intended end for us. He lets us know to not worry about falling because since we have decided to put our past, present, and future in His hands, He has become not just a harness but our safety net. We find a new comfort with Him in the middle of a thin rope with no visible harness that WE DIDN'T have when we were standing at the beginning of the cliff in control of our lives. The truth is that if you have surrendered your life to Christ you are currently on this rope. Things will get wobbly from time to time, but if we keep our eyes on Him we will make to the end of the rope and walk into eternity with Him.
I am not sure how religious if at all Dean Potter is. I would like to conclude by analyzing what he said when he made it to the other side of the rope:

"Its as pure as it gets, there is nothing but my stripped down body walking my path. I feel like I'm climbing out of a darker place, one of the deeper lows I've been in in my life. And I was kind of resentful of being divorced, getting dumped and stuff, but the whole world is kind of opening up to me ya know?"
God is calling us to strip ourselves of those darker moments in our lives and walk the path He has planned for us. He only asked that we have faith and trust in Him and keep our eyes fixed on Him. Be encouraged family, God bless.

Meaningless- Anthony Evans
This is one of my favorite artists. This is from his previous album, but this song always speaks to me. It really captures the heart of our Christian walk and what is really important. I hope you are blessed by it as we draw closer to the Sabbath hours. God bless.
I hope you enjoyed the song and its message. I won't always be "super-religious" in the blog but my faith is important to me. Blog on the Healthcare Summit/Debate and some other pertinent sports issues coming soon. Spread the news on the blog if u like it, leave comments at the very least click the box that says interesting lol, 1.

Eternal Optimism
It has been some time since I have blessed you all with a blog so I definitely appreciate your patience with me. This has been months in the making so I will try and make it worth your while. I have taken some notes from some of my favorite blogger's such as Terrance 'One Ten' Millen and My boy @thetillshow. Throughout this blog I will display some of what I've learned but most importantly stay true to myself. The not-so-random photos throughout is something I picked up from till. However the photos I put up will (hopefully) tie in completely with what I am talking about. Lets get into it after another one of those said photos.
One man's trash is another man's treasure. Its a topic that is thrown around a lot but not always digested in its proper context. Life is all about perspective. How you view situations shape how you feel about the world at large. There are some who are pessimistic about everything. You know the kind that will even state the obvious as long is it fuels their addiction of being negative and belittling others. Then there are some people who are so optimistic and happy about life that you wonder if they really are in touch with reality. The rest of us (normal people) are somewhere between or in other words a combination of the two. I would definitely use this term to describe myself. I describe my condition as eternal optimism. I know that websters defines this as: "the belief that good ultimately predominates over evil in the world," but this is not my personal definition. After this pic we'll see if you can relate.
This eternal optimism that I speak of is tied to 3 things: My experiences as a Knicks fan, an independent liberal in touch with reality, and of course as a Christian. If you fall into one of these categories you might have just had a light bulb moment. Let me briefly go through what I mean for those still in the dark. As a Knicks fan of my age we had some early highs...and in more recent years terrible lows. The last time i wrote a blog it was after we drafted Jordan Hill with the 8th pick in the NBA draft. I was upset, why you ask??? Because he turned out to be so useless and irrelevant that we gave him away today in a trade for a guy no one else wanted (Tracy McGrady). I have spent the majority of my life looking forward to future years with the promise that there are better days to come. I have been disappointed more times than I care to mention. Now it is July 2010 we look forward to with their 35 million dollars of cap space and my question for them is what are you going to do with it? When this time period that we have been intoxicated with for the past two years which has numbed the pain of all the losses has passed, what will we have to show for it. I want to believe...but history leads me to caution....so once again we wait....we'll see.
I got all caught up in the YES WE CAN FEVER!!!! When Obama got in I was amped and I stayed on that high for a long time. Then when I got sober off my "anything is possible" high, I remembered the system of congress that he was called to lead. The chambers where progress is trumped by politics EVERY TIME. The place where you always could have done more, and you say you will, but there is always another way your actions/motives can be portrayed. What we have as of today is a country that is more divided then we ever have been in American history. The proof is the fact that our President has an 85% approval rating with registered Democrats and a 25% approval rating with registered Republicans. That gap is the largest in AMERICAN HISTORY. Think Watergate, Clinton Scandal, Hoover during the Depression, Lyndon Johnson....we're more divided now than during any of their presidencies. My question is pretty obvious...why? Has Obama done that bad of a job. Has anyone stopped and thought about the process that it takes to get anything done in America. When you have a party (Republicans) that does everything in its power to block not just an up-and-down vote on bills, but also DEBATE on ANY bill written by Democrats. They know that if Obama is able to weather the storm on the economy (which will take time but its on its way) and save healthcare, they wont see the White House for another 20 years. So yes once again its back to the political games that Obama hoped to eradicate during his presidency. Unfortunately, sometimes when you try extremely hard to fix a problem it can get worse. Hopefully we can get something relevant done before re-election comes up, but then again when its politics over progress you shouldn't hold your breath.
So where is the hope? This doesn't sound like optimism at all. As I conclude as I would like to remind you why it is important to be eternally optimistic. It doesn't put you out of touch with reality, it actually ensures that you have the firmest possible grasp on it. This can only be fully realized in the Christian experience. When you have eternity in mind, the things that happen around you do not have a major effect on your optimism. Though the Knicks continue to let us down and Washington continues to remain stagnant, there will always be one thing to be optimistic about: eternity with Christ in community with others. If you feel like this is some pie-in-the-sky feel good message or you have been numbed by the fact that you've heard this already, i'd challenge you to give it a try. That means a real dedicated try. Those who seek Him with their whole heart will find Him along with true peace, direction, and perspective. Thanks a lot for struggling through the run-on sentences and occasional typo's. I promise to do better in the future. Take this photo as a gift for reading till the end of the blog. Let me know what you think, looking forward to hearing from you and writing more in the future. God bless.

Glutton For Punishing

As I was browsing around the New York Knicks website which I do at least 1 time daily, I came across this picture. First of all no homo, it is a male chest of some guy i don't know. It came from a photo album of die hard fans, who have submitted photos which embody their love for our Knickerbockers. Keep this in mind for later.
I have not been a Knick fan my entire life. When I was around 6 years old I started off as a bulls fan, simply because Michael Jordan and I had the same first name. My time as a Bulls fan would be short lived. I lived in California at the time, and my dad and I went to attend the annual Magic Johnson All-Star Game. My parents were friends with the VP of the United Negro College Fund at the time so we ended up with court side seats. After the game we were at a reception and I spotted Michael Jordan near the bar just relaxing by himself. I decided to stroll over accompanied by my dad to ask him for his autograph. He felt like being a jerk that day and said: "I only give autographs to kids I know," and walked away. The rest of the night I was devastated and although I ended up getting autographs and pictures from countless Stars that day, nothing could mend the disappointment that I felt. As soon as I got home i tore down all my MJ posters, stopped rocking all my MJ gear (except for the kicks...i mean c'mon). My family being from New York, I re-discovered my roots. My pops always knew I would, he saw my love for MJ as a phase and a fad that a lot of kids had at the time and I would grow out of it. I did and since that moment I have been a die-hard, orange and blue bleeding knick fan.
I started off in some good years. Ewing, Derek Harper, Starks, Oakley, Mason, Doc Rivers, are just a few of the names that I was ride or die for. Seeing P Ewing finally make it in 94' only to end up blowing it in Game 7 after Starks just somehow couldn't find the bucket. Being heartbroken by the man I learned to hate Michael Jordan, not like hate like Kobe hate: I'm talking personal experience hate. Watching Reggie Miller taunt Spike Lee, but being able to beat him enough through moments like LJ's 4-point play to live with it. The wars with the heat were some of the best years. The lockout year which I will always cherish...even though so many people belittle it. We played some real teams and beat them. Watching my favorite player Allan Houston knock down that shot on the road and then seeing him pump his fist like a hay maker across the entire front row of that arena. I lived it. My dad and I now living in Michigan watching that very game in silence. Leaning our bodies with the shot, then seeing it go in and yelling at the top of our lungs as I jumped into his arms like I was a baby again...Man I've LIVED IT. I was probably more emotionally tied to these players given the fact that I was a lil older at this time. Seeing the deterioration of one of the greatest centers of all time through injuries during that post season was also a tough pill to swallow. That loss to the Spurs would end any chance of Ewing winning a title. That era was coming to a close. It was time to see where the Knicks were going to go from here. This is where the Front office of the New York Knicks began their Glutton for Punishing their fans.
You can look up all the years if you want but i'm just gonna breifly deal with each of the following Era's or (errors depending on how technical u want to be). 2000-01 marked the franchise record 14th consecutive time the Knicks would make the playoffs. This time they got ousted by Toronto and Vince Carter and them. That offseason, they did the unthinkable. They traded the man who laid it all on the line for the name on the front of his chest. Patrick Ewing, gone just like that. That was the end of an Era and the beginning of a series of Errors. Van Gundy saw the culture changing and bolted. Allan Houston's knees didn't allow him to merit the 7 year max contract he received which led to a medical retirement. LJ had the same fate. Spreewell was traded. GM Scott Layden was on a mission to sign every player that he used to have in Utah. He overpaid for the likes of Howard Eisley, my cousin John Nixon II (Shandon Anderson), Clarence Weatherspoon, Terry Mills. He drafted men such as Nicolas Tskirinvithsvilli (yea something bad like that), Frederick Weis of Vince Carter jumped over him fame, and his final bow with the Macjei Lampe pick. Things got from bad to worse real soon.
Enter Isiah Thomas. We'll spare ourselves of all the details but i'll just run through the things he has done. He sign and traded for Eddy Curry (bust), Crawford (my dude), signed Jerome James (lol), Jared Jeffries, traded for the bad contracts of Stephon Marbury (Scapegoat), Anfernee Hardaway (paid for him to stay in his hometown of Memphis to rehab for a return that would never come), Brought in Moochie Norris early on...etc...man this is painful. He did draft some talented guys: Nate Robinson, David Lee, Wilson Chandler, Channing Frye (traded, falling off now), Trevor Ariza (Larry "the genius" Brown didn't like him and begged for Francis), brought in one of the most overrated guards ever in Steve Francis (wat a bum, if u like him, ur dumb), and a couple others. They proceeded to have 3 of the worst season in Franchise history. He placed himself in every possible position from President to GM to VP and finally coach...but it was clear that it had to end.
So now in closing i will deal with the so-called saviors of our franchise. Donnie Walsh and Mike D'Antoni...this was supposed to be change we could believe in. They have made a series of moves to get rid of bad contracts and i commend them for that (although that led to the trade of cap crawford). They have proceeded to have two of the worst drafts (with good picks) in my recent memory. If Isiah didn't get someone the Knicks could use, he at the very least get cats that someone else wanted. Thats as far as i'll go with my defense of that clown, but lets be real here. Danilo Galinari? A 6'10" jump shooting forward on a roster full of forwards already. He looks like a stiff (even when healthy). Now Jordan Hill aka a glorified Renaldo Balkman. Your telling me he's a young Amare Stoudamire D'Antoni....and thats fine, but is your word really gold? I have eaten up the message from the various front office jokers for years...and i'm about done with that. So im predicting that we let David Lee walk or sign and trade for some bums. This is tragic because now in order for Jordan Hill to be considered an upgrade or serviceable replacement, he will have to get somewhere near Lee's league leading 55 double doubles. Your setting your rookie up for failure. And aren't we looking at Chris Bosh and Amare (the actual one) in 2010??? And how are we planning on drawing free agents to come here. Who are they playing with? and who am i rooting for? cause every time i start to like somebody, they are ripped away because u keep telling me to wait. Patience. 2010 will turn into 2014 which will turn into 2020. We will never be a right now team. I mean u sat on national TV and really tried to sell to me that Darko Milicic...one of the worst lottery/#2 picks of all time will be able to help this team. A proven bust? Right after drafting a probable one. So here is my message at the end of this post. You guys have been gluttons for punishing for too long. And i am no longer a glutton for that punishment. 2010 is ur last chance. Make something happen. Cause I'm not watching a press conference that off season when u try to justify signing an aging Steve Nash and Shaquille O'Neal to max contracts cause no one else wanted to come. That will be my last day of accepting what the NYK front office have been gluttons for: punishing me.

FACEBOOK: 25 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME
I wrote this little list about myself on Facebook, I figured I would put up on this blog too. This should give you a little more information about who I am and where I'm coming from.
1. If people knew what was going through my head half the time...they probably wouldn't like me.
2. I really don't care about what people think about me...but if something i do is causing people to have a negative outlook on my family, i'll adjust it.
3. I try to say hi to one random person a day, sometimes people just look like their having a rough day (people say this about me, i'll address that in #4). I'm not tryna be fake by doing that, I don't think it takes much out of me to greet somebody.
4. I'm not mad/depressed/suicidal...sometimes people see me on campus and they think there is something wrong with me. To be honest with you I have a HORRIBLE schedule between school and all my activities, if u ever want to hear the rundown ask me. For this reason I am ALWAYS tired, hence the way i look on campus.
5. I really wish i had the time to be on the soccer team. Used to love it when I was younger.
6. Well this really isn't about me but i hear a lot of people who say that they are scared of my dad. He's a really nice dude, he's not an angry black man...just walk up to him one day and give him a hug and tell him i told u to do it...see what he does.
7. I'm prolly the most sarcastic guy you'll ever meet, which translates into non-stop laughs.
8. I am not related to Coach Luis Sanchez.
9. One day im seriously gonna find out who started the whole juicycampus.com thing...LMAO.
10. Sometimes I have the feeling that I will just randomly never get married and then one day go on the Bachelor and marry a random and then get a divorce 3 months later like the rest of the couples end up.
11. I honestly don't know why I ever started rooting for the Dallas Cowboys. I mean i liked Aikman, Smith, and Irvin...but the rest of my fam likes the Giants.
12. Meagan Good is fine.
13. AU Airpark.
14. If I had my way I would find a good paying job and use that to support an independent music label. I really feel like if i put time into it, God could do some amazing things. But i'll settle for law school.
15. I had a day when I almost died three times in the span of about 3 hours. Ask me about it one day.
16. If you never thought that you could find similarities and become really cool with someone that seems to be EXTREMELY different than you, me and ryan little would prolly change your mind.
17. I was the first person from my elementary school in Washington D.C. (Dupont Park Adventist School) to get nominated to the National Geography Bee which is moderated by the dude from Jeopardy.
18. I am extremely shy at times. But at 6'7" you can't be cause if ur in a place and you don't know anybody, its not like you can hide...so u just gotta act cool.
19. I don't feel tall, if that makes any sense, I feel like i'm an average size person until i give some people hugs...and then im reminded of how large i am...lol.
20. I don't like when I notice people getting taken advantage of...i take that personally.
21. When I was younger I used to kinda idolize my older cousins since i was one of the younger ones....but im at the stage of my life now where I depend on my immediate family, and usually look to my close core of friends for any advice or guidance.
22. One of my favorite songs ever is Kiss From a Rose by Seal.
23. I have gone up and down with my music selection. My senior year of high school I cut out all secular music and gotta kinda conservative. I'm a lot more laid back these days with my lifestyle. There are some things that I will to this day never do because of the morals that my parents instilled in me. At the end of the day, when I really need to be uplifted I turn to gospel music. There are no secular songs or artists that can come close to giving me the overall feeling that gospel song does.
24. I really wish I could play the piano.
25. Real talk hurts fake people....that's my life motto.

Sometimes u gotta vent....
Sorry it has been so long guys....between basketball practice/games, classes/homework and studying for the LSAT/GMAT I've been SWAMPED!!!!! But I found a little spare time to vent a little bit so we'll see where this goes. First of all I want to shout-out all of my fellow Andrews Cardinals. As of last night we surpassed our schools previous best win total (11-last year) by getting our 12th win of the season. We have definitely been through a lot as I explained to you guys a couple posts ago. It is definitely a good feeling to know that our hard work (training camp since September...WOW) is beginning to pay off. We still have some ways to go but we are in pretty good position to make it to the USCAA national tournament. The coaches poll got released today and we're back up to 6th in the nation!!!!!! A couple more wins should solidify that so lets just keep pushing team!
I'll begin this next section of the blog with this: being a nice guy is out of style. Yea yea, I know this sounds cliche and may sound like a played out realization...but its the inconvenient truth in relationships (or the lack thereof). Now usually when someone says this its a revelation that they are not currently having any luck with females and therefore they have to try and figure out whats wrong with them instead of looking in the mirror. This is not the case with me, and I'm not even proclaiming that I'm a nice guy. That would be for you to tell me...but anyways: I have just come to the realization that being squeaky clean is not in these days. I see many of my fellow men straight up dumbfounded when they think about what they have to offer and then at the same time see who females are settling for these days. I think the fault lies on each side and I will deal with both of them as best I can. I'll start with the men: MAN UP. I know that you feel like its not fair or your being bamboozled, hoodwinked, and just outright played for a fool. Honestly, at some point you gotta stop wallowing in the pity of your previous screw ups and be more vigilant. Vigilance, persistence, and a genuine swagger are the 3 keys to me in changing your fortunes. When I say vigilance, I don't want you to get the wrong idea, i don't want u holding females at gunpoint. In order to beat the "enemy" (which would be "bad guys") you have to match or supersede what they are offering. These dudes that you are up against go hard, they don't play games, they see what they want and they go for broke. You have to use your same "nice guy" genuine approach with the same sense of urgency. If you seem uninterested how do you expect her to be? Persistence shows that you are serious about what you have to offer. If you give up on a potential relationship you are sending a message to the female that you don't really even believe in what your "selling." If you don't think your good enough or on a certain level, you will give up easily and girls will read into that and word spreads a lot faster and farther than you think. Females want a man that is confident in himself. They want to be able to confide in you and your confidence can improve the mutual swag that you can have together...women don't want dead weight. Being genuine should be a given. Don't be fake and sell out to the "dark side" because they're getting all the play. In the end you'll end up worse off because women can smell a fake dude a mile away and will lose whatever respect they had for you. My honest opinion is that you have to be yourself- while at the same time having a realistic mix of "both sides." You can't be so squeaky clean that you look like a robot and you can't be so bad that you look like a threat on campus. Be you, be confident in you, and sooner or later you'll find a girl that u didn't have to do anything special to get; it will be just because of who you are.
I just have a little something for the ladies. I don't really mean for this part of the blog to apply to all of you and I am not i repeat NOT talking about any one person in particular. I do feel that some of the blame for this disappointment that has been felt on both ends. The first thing I'll say is that you lose credibility if after you spend hours bashing a guy for how much of a dog he is and then you turn around and try to get with that same person. Then after he does the same thing to you that you have been warned about..in fact warned others about you want to tell the world about your woes. Honestly I'm sick of hearing it, and I'm sure some of your friends are too. You all are beautiful! You deserve better, but if you'd like to settle I have no qualms with that...we just don't want to hear about it when it blows up. But yo that's all I have to say, I'd appreciate some feedback and other points of view it may help future blogs. God bless!

God bless!

GUESS WHO'S BIZAAAACK!!!!
Man, so much to say! Its been a long while since the last post went out and I'm gonna get to a lot of different topics in this one. First of all the pictures above will be the direction of this blog so bear with me and it will all be made clear soon. I'll start out with the picture of me in the basketball jersey. That picture really isn't related to what I am going to say but it is the most recent picture I have of myself in that Cardinal uniform. It has been a rocky 2 or so months for our team; and I guess I use this picture because it represents the last time our team was NORMAL. This was the game against LMC in which we (surprisingly to some) got our first win ever against them. The next day we had a front page news article in our local newspaper the Herald Palladium talking about the impact of our new coach Fred Paulsen and how our program looked so serious. Since then our team has been anything but that. The next day our athletic director was pressured to fire our coach. After an emotional meeting with all parties involved, he was able to convince the school to give coach a second chance. Things seemed to be regaining normalcy but its just gotten wierder ever since. Instead of moving to 8-4 in our next game against a beatable team, we lost in DISSAPOINTING FASHION. Then Christmas break happened. Long story short not everyone came back, and we played a game after break with 7 guys against another bad team and lost again. We then went out west the past thursday to Walla Walla to play a double header against them. We went there 7-6 with 9 guys due to the fact that some guys still were not allowed to travel with us (emphasis on coaches decision there). Now Walla Walla was a winless team up to this point. Lets just say that the same thursday we traveled there was the first day we had to play them. We arrived there 5:30 local time (we left for chicago at 6:00 am MICHIGAN TIME) and then played at 7.....jetlag is an understatement. They ended up beating us in that first game by 7. So now we were 7-7 reeling from this BAD 3 game losing streak all games we should of had. Then came saturday night. We went into that gym and honestly just decided that we weren't gonna let them beat us. They had a good crowd that liked to talk a lot of junk so it felt literally AMAZING to shut them up. 18 point win....pindrop silence except for the away locker room where we were going CRAZY!!!!! So now we are 8 and 7, we aren't totally happy with that but starting tommorow we are supposed to have our full team back to practice. I honestly can't wait and I am longing for the day when we can have that same feeling back that we had in that LMC locker room, togetherness; toughness; brotherhood; family; thats cardinal basketball.
Moving to the next picture this is just a quick public service announcement for the haters at large. I highly recommend this book swag for dummies because your need to hate (which essentially equals a lack of swag) can be cured by this good read. Like honestly i'll cut right to the chase the whole juicycampus.com thing honestly gave me a nice chuckle. And at the end of the day no blog i write or anything I say will ever really stop you from hating. But i'm really trying to save your life...cause a life without some sort of swag is gonna leave you empty. Cause when u graduate (if you ever do)...all those people u spent time hating on in college are gonna be gone making moves, more importantly not remembering any of the things you've said about them. And to address it directly, I know my dad has thick skin and I wont sweat it. Since I know him and actually listen to the things he says in sermons, I understand where he is coming from. I know what his motives are, I know what kind of person he is. So I use the same logic to analyze the haters. My dad puts his name on everything he's said and stands by it. His haters don't. He makes sure u can put a face to his name. His haters won't. In everything he does he strives to promote unity within our campus, our church, our world by helping us to realize that we cannot keep repeating the mistakes of the past. His haters don't care, they strive to criticize such talk because they like the divided state of our campus, our church, our world, our lives. So the next time you wanna say something about him, you would sound a lot more intelligent if you listened with a clear open mind. When it comes down to it; real talk hurts fake people...enough said.
Lastly, I will direct your attention to the elderly black male at the top of the page. His name is James Presley. He is from Sledge, Mississippi. He is 78 years old. He is also the grandson of a slave. You can read more about him here: http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/01/12/grandson.of.slaves/index.html on CNN.com. When you ask him about slavery and the hardships that his family has gone through he can tell you about many of the experiences of his forefathers. He still lives and Sledge and he continues to participate in the family trade: picking cotton. On November 4th, 2008 he was able to make a vote that literally brought tears to his eyes. He never thought he would see that day that a black man would run his country. There are so many stories about the inspiration of Barack Obama and what his inauguration will mean to all of us. But when you really think about a man who was brought up in the slave mindset of submission and inferiority being able to help elect a black man to the highest office in that same land, it has to send chills up and down your spine. The Presley family is a living witness of the progress that we have seen in this country but they continue to be a reminder of how far we have come from in the now election of Barack Obama. I'll leave you with James Presley's message to the world: "The important thing in life is to try to live and do the best you can," he says. "We done had it bad. Let us help give our children a better life, our grandchildren, our great-grandchildren. Let's try to give them a better life than we had. But anyway, just keep the good work going, is all I say."
GOD BLESS AND KEEP TUNING IN!

Christian Voting& You can vote however you like!& WASSUP 2008
In my spare time I go on www.politico.com and I read some of the political blogs on there...there is usually some interesting stuff. On October 27, 2008 I was reading Ben Smith's blog (recommended) and he had a video that was put out by the Democratic Christian Radio group Matthew 25 which was defending Obama's Christianity. I was surprised to see that a lot of conservative (obviously) christians liken a vote for McCain to a vote for Christ or God's will. So me being me, I had to respond to these quotes and here is what I said in response to that idea:
I hear a lot of interesting comments coming from a lot of people on this page. Number 1: No CHRISTian should be a registered member of a political party. The only person we should be answering to is God and not any particular party's agenda. To suggest that any party is fulfilling or concerned with the will of God is LUDICROUS. These men, on either side of the fence will do what it takes to get elected, whether Christ agrees with it or not. No 2: To say that voting for McCain is a vote for Jesus is borderline blasphemous. What is his policy for the poor or the "least of these" that Jesus emphasized while he walked this earth. What is his policy to ensure healthcare for our children and those who cannot afford to ensure themselves? I'm not seeing the similarities to Jesus. No. 3: To say that we should not have policies that tolerate people that do not believe as we do is also not biblical. The Bible does say thou shall not kill, steal, etc. and God is a just God. But just as the adulterer that Jesus forgave in the Gospels, we should not strive to ostracize people who do wrong. So if you call yourself a Christian, look at the life of Jesus and see how he handles all different types of situations. Then see whose OVERALL policy aligns most closely to the life of Christ and that is how you should vote...period.
I just had to get that off my chest! Let me know what you guys think about this with some comments, and by the way, I had to end off with a hilarious video. All i'll say is, YOU CAN VOTE HOWEVER YOU LIKE!
This is another hilarious but deep video, watch it till the end or you wont get it.

Politics& Relationships...some recent thoughts of mine
So....I'm sitting in the Meier Hall lobby, watching the last debate between my people's Obama and that old guy McCain. There was just a lot of stuff that just started to bother me about it. Number 1, the moderator always makes irrelevant points before he even gets to the question he is trying to ask. Number 2, neither candidate ever really has to answer the question and they spend 80% of the debate responding to something false or stupid the other person is saying. At the end of the thing, u really start to wonder what in the world was the point of losing the past 2 and 1/2 hours. Then you have these so called uncommitted voters in Ohio who watch every debate and then react to it. I feel like you honestly have to be retarded to make a decision on who your going to vote for based on the current set-up of debates. Like honestly if anyone can in a comment to this post name 3 points they know for a fact to be 100% accurate that were made by each candidate off of the top of their heads: they can start running this blog. McCain spent most of the time crying about how he has no money, how he wanted to have MORE of these pointless debates, and how Obama has gone too negative...WHOA there buddy- this is coming from a guy who just started to admit that Obama is not a muslim, and who's idiot running mate continues to make accusations that Obama "pals around with terrorists." So you quietly condoned people who support you to think that Obama is a radical muslim terrorist....WHO IS BEING NEGATIVE!?! Enough about that crap though...this is a blog so i can be biased and flat out McCain and his whole campaign is a joke, if you vote for him name 5 things he's gonna do to help you after inauguration. Unless you run Exxon Mobile, you shouldn't be able to think of anything. Now on to relationships. Titles...whats the point of them? Like im down with the whole committment and claiming your signifcant other when you actually do mean something relevant to each other. But why are people so anal about the title itself. To me, titles are not put together for the people in a relationship, they are there for the irrelevant jokers on the outside who gossip about those 2 people. The fact is, people are too nosy these days...if you see me conversating with a female, it doesn't mean we're dating...it means i like females. I'm a male, we like females...in most cases...(thats another blog)...but as for me females is the way to go 1,000% of the time. But real talk, we gotta stop getting in other people's kool-aid, if you don't have a man or a girl...consider your singleness a blessing and meet some people. Do you, let others do them, and then maybe you can end up doing....(get the picture?) So I say ladies if you like a dude, but u don't want title and your talking to a dude u think u can trust...let him know wat u want. I think we just need to start being more real with each other because when it comes down to it, for the most part men and women want the same things. Some are just more open about it and others like to put on a front or sugarcoat...but on some real...we all know whats really going through ur head at those certain times of night...lol, well this is gettin long, holla at ur boy drop me some comments so I know if im on the right track. 1.

Welcome to my world!
Whats good people. I'm officially in the world of blogging. I just gotta shout out a couple people before I get this all settled. First of all to my boy Obama, for reminding me that when your black, you have to go the EXTRA mile to prove that your better than somebody else. Lets just be frank, if he were a white male with the same qualities he has now up against McCain and Tina Fey (Palin), this wouldn't have been close. So in the future, I will always go the extra mile to prove my worth. My parentals for instilling some good values in me and thank God for the ones I have actually kept. T dot Mill for inspiring me to start blogging, that's all the credit he will get although I'm sure he's looking for more. But i seriously suggest u give his P.D's volumes 1+2 playlist a listen...it gets the job done! (thisisoneten.blogspot.com). So we'll be embarking on this journey together in the coming months...I'm excited and I will soon have some real things to get your mind going. Be ready! I know I am. I'm out like Rob Tyson's million dollar settlement...gone. lmao.
